The very long over-due update

Hi everyone.... it's me, Patrick. It has been such a long time since Mummy & Daddy have updated the blog and I haven't done an entry in ages so I thought I would write this one to let you all know what has been happening over the past 6 weeks or so.

As you probably all know, we flew back to Australia for Christmas. I was really excited about meeting all my family and getting to know Mummy & Daddy's friends. I was such a good boy on the 11 hour direct fight to Perth.....even Mummy & Daddy said so! I slept when I needed to, I ate when I wanted to and I played really well. I only cried twice, very quickly though, to let mummy know that I was either tired or hungry. We arrived in Perth just in time for dinner on Thursday night and Aunty Kalee & Uncle Ben met us at the airport and took us back to their house which is where we were staying. They were so nice -they arranged a car seat, a pram and a portacot for me while we were staying with them. I didn't really adjust well to the portacot on the Thursday night but I was a little confused about when it was sleep time and play time and everything around me was different so it was a little bit of an unsettled night all round. Mummy helped me get my body clock back to normal on Friday though.....she was a little mean and wouldn't let me sleep when I wanted to and she kept waking me up but I guess it was for the best really, because I had a wonderful night's sleep on Friday night (wich meant Mummy & Daddy had a good night's sleep too) and I was back to my normal happy self on Saturday which was good because we had to get on another plane to fly to Adelaide!!!

I got to meet my Grandi & Grandad and my Grandma & Poppy on Saturday night before going up to Port Augusta on Sunday to meet my Poppy & Nanny, as well as a heap of other extended family members. It was great! I went for a picnic at the beach, did some shopping, went out to dinner but most of all played and had cuddles from my cousins!

When we arrived back in Adelaide we stayed between Grandi & Grandad's and Grandma & Poppy's and had very hectic days running here there and everywhere, catching up with people, finishing the Christmas shopping and Mummy & Daddy had a few appointments to go to as well. Aunty Kalee & Uncle Ben arrived in Adelaide on the Friday before Christmas and we enjoyed spending time with them, shopping and showing them around Adelaide. They also spent Christmas Day with us and our families.

Christmas day was excellent! I woke up to kisses and cuddles from Mummy and Daddy, but I wasn't complaining :) Daddy was really really weird....he kept on saying "Patrick, it's Christmas morning.....it's Christmas morning...." Oh well, all the presents I got to open made up for his craziness!

I got dedicated at Church on the 27th of December - lots of my family and friends came to the service and afternoon tea - I felt very special but I ended up falling asleep after the ceremony and slept on mummy through the afternoon tea.

On Saturday the 29th we said Goodbye to Aunty Kalee & Uncle Ben at the airport (they were flying back to Perth) and then we flew up to Brisbane. I was a good boy on the flight - I was well and truly a frequent flyer by this stage! We stayed at Uncle David's house with Grandma & Poppy and I got to meet all of Daddy's family - Uncle Ben, Aunty Tracey, Jasper & Zeke (my cousins), Great Nanny, Aunty Donna & Uncle Don and my other cousin Nicole. Zeke (18 months) & I had a great time together and he was very gentle when he played with me.

Finally, on Wednesday the 2nd of January our holiday came to an end and it was time for us to fly home. Back to the airport and on the plane to Dubai via Singapore. Once again, I was extremely good on the plane and charmed all the people around us. We stopped in singapore for 40 minutes on the way, but we decided to stay on the plane instead of taking all our stuff off and wandering around. We arrived safely in Dubai on Thursday morning, collected our bags and went home. Blair and Aunty Em (Emmaleen) picked us up from the airport - they put my carseat in the car for me so I was safe as opposed to sitting in the car on Mummy's lap, which is really dangerous!!!

Thursday a little tough - once again, Mummy wanted me to sleep when I wanted to play and when I wanted to sleep she wanted me to play.... I was very confused until she explained to me that that was the only way I would get over my jetlag. So I listened to her and did what she wanted and the next day I felt alot better. Poor mummy was jetlagged too so it was important for me to get over it as soon as possible, so she could get over it too. Daddy gave her lots of hugs because she was very tired too :(

I had a week at home having Mummy and Daddy all to myself before Poppy & Nanny arrived to stay with us for 2 weeks. It was very exciting and I was happy to have them stay, even though it meant having to sleep in the lounge room. We did lots of sightseeing and shopping with Nanny and Poppy and I got extremely spoilt. We took them to Hatta, Al Ain & Abu Dhabi, we went on a Dhow Cruise on the creek, we explored all the souks (which are like markets in Australia) and drove around LOTS with Mummy driving..... she did very well and seems a lot more confident now :)

Nanny & Poppy left last friday - I was very brave saying goodbye but Mummy cried.....only for a few minutes though, then she was smiling again. Our house is now back to normal (the lounge is a lounge again as opposed to a bed and my cradle is out of the lounge room) and I have more room to play. My "Big Boy" cot arrived yesterday and Mummy was very excited to set it all up nice for me. She had to move furniture and everything to fit my cot in the room but it is in and I really like having extra space to sleep. Last night was my first night in it and I slept pretty well!

On Friday Mummy said she is giving me something called "Baby rice" and I get to eat it with a spoon. Should be pretty interesting I reckon! I'll let ou know how I go next week :)

Here are a few recent photos of me :)

Oh well, I'd better go - I have some new toys to play with and explore.

Till next time xxx
